Tuesday 26th June 2012:  Cognac will be picked up from the yard by  Eric Gillie Horse Transport , it will take him three days to get to Scotland.
Thursday 28th June 2012: Stay the night at Bencorragh House, Canisbay, Caithness.
Friday 29th June 2012:
24 miles
Ride the three miles from Bencorragh House to John O' Groats.
Get a photograph taken at the offical signpost.
Sign in our journey at the Seaview hotel, John O' Groats.
Follow NCN1 from John O' Groats to Thurso.

Stay at Pennyland B+B, Thurso.
Saturday 30th June 2012:
23 miles
Set out from Thurso heading west along a short section of the A836.
Take the first left and follow lanes through Westfield and Shebster.
Back on the A836 at Reay.
Follow lanes and tracks that run alongside Halladale river if possible, if not I will travel down the A897.
Stay at The Cornmill Bunkhouse
Sunday 1st July 2012:
23 miles
Continue South down the A897 to Kinbrace.
Take the B871.
Garvault Hotel.
I will be meeting with Jan O'Neill  from Highlands Unbridled and riding with them for the day on monday .
Monday 2nd July:
Staying at the Crask Inn.
Tuesday 3nd July 2012:
23 miles
Staying near Bonar Bridge. Stacie from Highland Wildrides  has put me in contact with her friend Sheree Dobson, who is putting Cognac and myself up for the night.
Wednesday 4th July 2012:
approx. 23 miles
Cognac will be staying at Coillemore Stables, where they have very kindly let me have a stable free of charge.
I am looking for accommodation locally for myself.
Thursday 5th July 2012:
approx. 20 miles
Cognac and I will both be staying at Chapleton E.C, where they have very kindly let me have a stable free of charge.
WEEK TWO-
Friday 6th July 2012:
Join Great Glen Way at Drumnadrochit.
Borlum farm, Drumnadrochit.
Saturday 7th July:
15.5 miles
Staying with Mrs Draper Kirkfield, Invermoriston. I am staying in the B+B and Cognac will stay in the paddock.
Sunday 8th July:
18 miles
Hopefully I will be staying with Kirsty at South Laggan. Kirsty owns the Farr Cottage Backpackers Accommodation. Kirsty has very kindly said that I can stay on her sofa bed, hopefully her landlord will say it is okay for my horse to stay in the field at the bottom of her garden.
Monday 9th July:
25.5 miles

Tuesday 10th July:
15 miles
Set out from Fort William on West Highland Way
looking for accommodation near Kinlochlevan.
Fort William to Kinlochlevan 16 miles- very steep gradients.
Wednesday 11th July:
21 miles
Looking for accommodation near The Bridge of Orchy
Thursday 12th July:
19 miles
Looking for accommodation near Inverarnan.
WEEK THREE-
Friday 13th July:
21 miles.
Looking for accommodation near Balmahn.
Saturday 14th July:

Arrive at Milngavie, Glasgow
Sunday 15th July:
Set out from Milngavie.

Shadow the Pennine footpath where possible.
End of July: 
Day one(on Pennine Bridleway):
Join Pennine Bridleway at Kirkby Stephen.
approx. 25 miles
Day two:
Denshaw to around Glossop
approx. 25 miles
Day three:
Glossop to Chelmorton.
approx. 25 miles
Day four:
Chelmorton to Middleton Top.
17.5 miles
Day Five:
Join the Sabrina Way

Cotswold hills
Mendip hills
mid Aug 2012: join the Kernow Horse Trail on the Devon/ Cornwall border.
Day one (on Kernow Horse Trail):
Horsebridge, Tavistock.
Day two:
Bodmin
Day three:
Newquay
Day four:
Camborne
Day five: (late August)
Arrive at Land's End

  1. Good luck with your endeavour. The Pennine Bridleway stretch is stunning, but you may want to factor in a few more days as it is tough and slow going, particularly the top two thirds before you get onto the disused railways. Maybe aim for 15 miles a day over the tough bits?
